Joyce Yu began in photography and graphic design in San Francisco and found a tiny pilates and yoga studio in her neighborhood to help offset the tension from sitting in front of a computer for hours a week. In 2005, she moved to NYC and continued practicing yoga to balance out the intensity from her job. One day at Atmananda studio she picked up a teacher training brochure and decided on a whim to do the 200 hour program. Since then she has fallen in love with yoga and been practicing every day. It has been amazing to learn how the body and mind work together thanks to JhonT’s wisdom and teachings. The practice of yoga greatly parallels the discoveries and challenges in life. She has been exploring different practices from Ashtanga to Jivamukti to Dharma Mittra and bringing all the experiences to her students at class.
Joyce currently teaches yoga with the love of interacting with students while keeping the atmosphere light with music and fluid vinyasa flow. She has also been studying nutrition since her move to New York and become a certified health coach. It is her mission in life to support others in in maintaining health and wellness so they can continue to play, enjoy life, and be their own definition of success.
