Atmananda’s mission is to provide individuals with the tools and skills that enable them to develop their full potential and inspire others to do the same.
“The reason why I created the sequence was because I was seeing yoga students all over the city getting hurt. Well the reason for this, I realized, was because various styles of yoga paid little attention to alignment nor creating a sustainable practice.
In my experience in New York, students were not being protected and many people would end up needing knee or shoulder surgery after a three years of so. I knew I had to provide my students the knowledge to protect themselves. The best way to help people understand why these injuries occur is to go backwards, showing exactly what movements lead to their different aches and pains and learn in detail how to correct those mistakes. I needed to create a sequence that was very conscious and very cautious in its approach, so that I would be able to break down the specifics of alignment in detail. I do not want my students to practice for three years, I want them to practice for a lifetime. I have been doing this for 20 years now and my students are happy and healthy, especially the ones who have been practicing with me for years. Something must be going right!”
