Beginners

A vinyasa flow class with the structure of the Atmananda Yoga Sequence. While instructor follows the principles of the sequence, they use individual creativity to concentrate on certain postures or parts of the body. In accordance with the teachings of the sequence, there is attention brought to the breath and alignment

Candle-lit Yoga

It’s time to wind down from the workweek and recenter for the weekend. It’s time for Candle-lit yoga. Focusing on poses that specifically benefit those that spend a good deal of time sitting at a desk and/or running around all week, this vinyasa-flow will revitalize the body back to its most grounded, relaxed and open state. A candle’s flame represents the source of creation, our inner light. Reconnect to yourself, your inner-light, and your precious “me-time” with the guidance of the healing powers of evening yoga. Open to all levels.

Chill Out Yin Yoga

Let’s face it, sometimes we need to be supported in order to fully relax. Stress takes its toll on the body and can be the cause of many health problems. Stillness is sometimes the best gift we can give ourselves and this restorative class is designed with your body’s needs in mind. Yin yoga works the deeper tissues in the body using props and breath to create space. This class is open to all levels: total beginners, athletes, busy professionals and stressed out New Yorkers. So wear your most comfortable gear, leave your stress at the door, and be prepared to just chill out.

Core & Restore

A vigorous, core-focused class designed to tone and sculpt from your midline through an assimilation of breath work and methodical sequencing. Find your inner strength and power in this dynamic flow that builds strength and flexibility, getting you leaner and fitter fast. Whether you’re trying to alleviate back pain, firm and tone your abs, or simply enhance your practice, this class is for you!

Falun Dafa

Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is an advanced self-cultivation practice of the Buddha School. Falun Dafa was founded by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the practice’s master. It is a discipline in which “assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance)—is the foundation of practice. Practice is guided by these supreme qualities, and based on the very laws which underlie the development of the cosmos.

The practice includes four gentle, standing exercises, along with a sitting meditation. Practitioners often describe the experience of renewed energy, clarity of mind, and overall healthy with consistent practice. The exercises and meditation can be done by persons of any age, fitness level, or background. *Taught for free by volunteers

Free Spirit Yoga

We live in a society where we are not always able to freely be ourselves. This Vinyasa class is about removing our masks and flowing in the raw. Express who you are through each flow & get in tune with your higher self. Experience Freedom.

Hip Opening & Stretching

Hip opening focuses on the specific components of the sequence which help release stress and tension in our body by opening the hips. Breath work, combined with stretches, open channels in our energetic bodies so that we may better absorb and utilize Prana to facilitate healing on deeper levels.

Lunch Crunch

Squeeze in a stretch during your lunch break. A compressed interpretation of The Atmananda Sequence, a body of knowledge experienced through Hatha, and Ashtanga Yoga to create a Vinyasa flow. Open Level

Open and refresh the body with seven groups of asanas, while protecting yourself though proper placement of hands and feet to maintain correct alignment. Starting with sun salutations to warm up, going through various hip openers to release tension, forward bends to fire digestion, back bends to open the heart, arm balances to tone and strengthen the body and inversions to reverse gravity. Movement begins with the breath bringing awareness to our body’s vital energy, Prana. Our breath brings attention to detail and is the foundation of a healthy Yoga practice. ORIGINS: Atmananda Sequence

This class is lead by Master teacher Jhon T, founder and creator of the Atmananda Sequence. The sequence is composed of the seven groups of asanas, including standing poses, balancing poses, spinal twists, inversions, twists, back bends and forward bends, all working to leave the body completely open and refreshed. We use the breath and attention to detail as the foundation of the flow to develop a healthy yoga practice that can last for a lifetime. Through learning proper alignment our bodies will begin to safely open and through practicing a consistent sequence, rather than looking around to see the next pose we will begin to move internally quieting our minds.

Morning Express: Atmananda Sequence

Vinyasa Flow

An invigorating asana practice focused on one-breath-one-movement sequences to keep the prana flowing and body energized. Class is open-level, as students are encouraged to find the right pose for their bodies each day.

Liquid Flow

Dig deep as this heated power vinyasa flow will challenge you physically and test your edge beyond perceived limitations. Dynamic sequences link breath with movement creating a fluid meditation in motion that is anything but traditional. Set to a killer playlist as the backdrop, you will build strength, balance and flexibility while opening up the heart and calming the mind. The best part? This class finishes you off with a deep, soothing cool down that is sure to have you melting into your mat. All levels welcome.

Hump Day Restorative

Struggling to make it through the week? Another stressful day at work? Escape with me for 75 minutes and indulge in the stillness and calm of restorative yoga. This practice uses props and seated/floor postures held for longer periods of time to produce deep relaxation of the body, mind and spirit. Restorative yoga is a wonderful way to balance the intensity of living in NYC. All levels welcome.

Yin Yoga – Chakra Tuning & Chanting

This class aims to balance the chakras through 7 yin yoga postures. Each posture will be held between 3 and 5 minutes. Within each posture, students participate in a guided meditation and will to tune into the sensations experienced while opening each energy center. Together we will work from the base chakra all the way up to the crown; concluding class with chanting to stimulate each chakra through power of sound and vibration.

Massage & Restore

This is a restorative style class designed to release tension in the neck and shoulders and to clear out the heart meridian. The first portion of class will employ rubber balls to self-massage or “roll out” adhesions in the fascia in and around the shoulders and neck. The latter portion of class will incorporate movements drawn from a number of disciplines including Qigong, Yin and Restorative to clear out any remaining stagnation in the neck and shoulders.

Mindful Vinyasa

Mindful Vinyasa is an open level class focusing on the sensations felt in each posture. In this slow paced class, participants flow through a modified Atmananda sequence holding each pose up to 5 breaths. All yogis are welcome to explore the effects of deep breathing and how the practice of mindfulness can stimulate awareness in the body. The warmth of salt rock lamps will light the class.

Open/Advanced Class

Open up with the Atmananda sequence, a body of knowledge experienced through Hatha, and Ashtanga Yoga to create a Vinyasa flow. Open and refresh the body with seven groups of asanas and seventy one powerful poses, while protecting yourself though proper placement of hands and feet to maintain correct alignment. Starting with sun salutations to warm up, going through various hip openers to release tension, forward bends to fire digestion, back bends to open the heart, arm balances to tone and strengthen the body and inversions to reverse gravity. Movement begins with the breath bringing awareness to our body’s vital energy, Prana. Our breath brings attention to detail and is the foundation of a healthy Yoga practice. Open Level

Peaceful Warrior

This class starts with a meditation to calm the breathe and center the focus. As we start to warm up the body we will go into a fluid sequence that links the body with the breathe. After, we will cool down with some stretches that will release built up tension. Followed by a relaxing savasana that will surely leave you with an open heart and an open mind to conquer the rest of the day.

Power Monday

Get up in the morning and feed yourself some fire of power, with tribal music from the East and the West. Through her 8 years yoga practice of Hatha Yoga and Ashtanga Yoga, Bixi found the the power of Vinyasa to enhance flexibility and strength. This modern method Power Yoga has helped improved her practice and she is excited to share with the community.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal Yoga classes are appropriate for beginner through advanced practitioners. You may begin practicing at any stage of your pregnancy.

Classes will create and support mind-body awareness through stretching, asanas and breathing exercises that will help ease anxiety, build confidence, strengthen the body and help prepare for labor.

Our gentle yet dynamic flowing prenatal yoga practice will help you through the many common pregnancy symptoms by improving circulation, aiding digestion, maintaining flexibility, and strengthening the uterus and pelvic muscles.

85 minute class: whole body stretching, muscle strengthening through gentle & dynamic flow, breath work to support relaxation through pregnancy and labor.

Restorative, deep relaxation to assist the mind and body through the many changes experienced in pregnancy.

Restorative Moon Flow

Join me for a smooth, soothing and restorative class every Monday, the day ruled by the Moon! We begin with the Moon mantra to tune ourselves with the vibrations of receptivity & compassion. Followed by a slow flow of Moon Salutations and gentle poses to restore the body/mind. Meditative and relaxing, this class will teach you the benefits of resting, non-doing and non-action. In this class we create space for the body to open & the mind to heal so we can re-connect with our essence. All levels welcome. Relax. Renew. Restore. Moon Blessings!

Restorative Props

Come join us for a delightfully mellow 75 minutes of restorative yoga. This practice uses props and seated/floor postures held for longer periods of time to produce deep relaxation of body, mind and spirit. Restorative yoga is a wonderful way to balance the intensity of the Atmananda Yoga Sequence. Additionally, this class will provide stillness and calm to decompress after a stressful day. All levels welcome.

Restorative Yoga with Tibetan Singing Bowls

A slow, meditative practice assisted by the healing sounds of Tibetan Singing Bowls. Props are used to support the body for deeper relaxation as postures are held for longer periods.

Soul Flow

It’s a mix of breath work vinyasa flow, poses and core work. Helping to strengthen your mind body and center. Working on being mindful of the breath, body and tension. We strengthen, lengthen and expel toxins from the body while using the breath to calm to the mind.

Tula: A Blend of Yoga & Dance

Tula is a movement practice which incorporates elements of yoga, dance, and positive psychology. A 60-minute guided meditation through movement and exploration with an emphasis on connecting the emotional, mental, and physical body in the present moment. Tula incorporates meditation, chakra theory, improvisation, asanas, and affirmations to manifest more balance and positivity in your life. Countless individuals understand the importance of physical health. You owe it to yourself to experience the many benefits of mental and emotional health as well. Tula strives to enhance your focus, lessen anxiety, stimulate creativity, boost compassion, reduce stress, and gain a greater awareness of one’s self. Backed by scientific research, this class will allow you to become your most resilient, positive, and beautifully innate self. (Mats are not used in this class)

Weekend Flow

The Atmananda Weekend Flow offers to loosen up stiff joints and muscles through an edited Atmananda Sequence to get the blood circulating and body warmed up. Attuning to the sensation of our breaths we elongate, stretch the major muscles on our torso, limbs and expand the hips to release tension as we activate key meridian points along the body to promote prana, the life force within us. Attention to micro movement and spine alignment along with adjusted techniques makes a class welcome to all levels.

Yoga for Healing

Let us focus on restoring our vital energy through the practice of therapeutic yoga. We our going to nourish and open our bodies, with a beautiful combination of restorative yoga, gentle yoga, mediation, and aromatherapy. You will leave feeling whole and at peace.
